About us
Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. The only requirement for membership is an honest desire to stop drinking . AA has no dues or fees. It is not allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organization or institution. Does not wish to engage in any controversy. Neither endorses nor opposes any causes. Our primary purpose is to stay sober and help other alcoholics to achieve sobriety.
AA Preamble
What has become the New Horizons group of Alcoholics Anonymous in Quito was created in 1996 as an offshoot of the Spanish-speaking AA group Gente Nueva (New People). In 2002 that offshoot became independent of Gente Nueva and moved to a Lutheran church for years, then to the Santuario María Auxiliadora El Girón to the Santuario María Auxiliadora El Girón, then back to the Lutheran church where meetings are now held. Originally a Monday night meeting, the group is now centered on a Saturday morning meeting and hopes to expand once again to weekday meetings as its membership grows. We hope you join with us to share in this effort and experience what it means to live happy, joyous and free in sobriety.
